“Back to the Moon for Good,” a new planetarium show on the future of lunar exploration, opened at the McAuliffe-Shepard Discovery Center on Saturday.
Narrated by award-winning actor Tim Allen, “Back to the Moon for Good” highlights humanity’s exploration of our nearest neighbor and provides an insider’s look at the teams vying to win the $30 million Google Lunar XPRIZE, the largest incentivized prize in history.
To win the Google Lunar XPRIZE, a privately funded team must successfully place a robot on the Moon’s surface that explores at least 500 meters and transmits high definition video and images back to Earth.
The competition is geared toward democratizing space, so that in the 21st century, not only governments but inpiduals and companies with vision, daring and willingness to work hard on ambitious goals can explore the Moon and beyond.
