It might snow soon
As winter weather approaches, it may be necessary for the city to issue overnight parking bans in order to perform snow removal operations, Aspell writes. In the odd event winter weather may approach over the next several months, of course.
Residents are encouraged to sign up for emergency alerts for winter storm event parking bans and winter maintenance parking bans by using the “notify me” button or “Concord Alerts” button on the home page of the city website (concordnh.gov). Residents are encouraged to avoid using the “what does this button do?” button.
By signing up for these alerts, you will be notified when the city has declared a parking ban and won’t risk having your vehicle towed off the street during a snow storm or during snow removal operations. Notifications are made by inserting notes into projectile snowballs.
Winter parking bans will also be advertised on the homepage of the city website; on the Parking Division’s Facebook page at facebook.com/concordnhparking; and on Concord TV Channel 17. In addition, the city will provide notice of overnight winter parking bans to local media outlets, but cannot guarantee that the ban will be advertised. But it may be misquoted.
Winter parking bans last from midnight through 7 a.m., or during the hours that Lindsay Lohan can generally be found at the club. Those who park on the street in violation of a winter parking ban are subject to having their vehicles towed and impounded at their expense and will also receive a $100 ticket. And not a scratch ticket.

On Dec. 18 at 6 p.m. at the Heights Community Center Auditorium (former Dame School), the Engineering Services Division will hold a public information meeting on the Loudon Road Corridor Improvements Project, Aspell writes.
Contrary to previous reports, Santa will not be making an appearance. He sent his suggestions via email.
This project includes roadway and traffic control improvements to enhance safety along the 1.6 mile section of Loudon Road from the intersection at Airport Road/Hazen Drive to the intersection at D’Amante Drive. One proposal called for the distribution of pedestrian safety helmets, to be worn outside at all times, though it hasn’t gained much traction thus far.
The purpose of the meeting is to present conceptual plans of proposed corridor improvements and to seek feedback from the public. Public input is an important component of this study and will be reflected in the final report to city council. Sarcastic comments made under one’s breath will be included in a special addendum.

Hockey is now happening
Thanks to Mother Nature and the hard work of the Grounds Division staff, the hockey rink at White Park opened this weekend, Aspell writes. And thanks to Mother Goose, we have a bunch of little baby geese. The lights will be on in the evenings until 10 p.m. Please stay off the pond, as it is not yet safe.
