This little guy sure is good at helping those in need this time of year

Six-year-old friend of the Insider, Aidan Lamothe – who, as you can see, is ridiculously photogenic – continued his annual birthday tradition of collecting food for the Capital Region Food Program. That’s quite a haul!

We first met Aidan Lamothe last year at this time, when he had just opted to eschew traditional gifts in favor of peanut butter and tuna fish during his fifth birthday party, with an eye toward donating the booty through the Capital Region Food Program to its many recipients.

Well, Lamothe is at it again. He recently turned 6, and this year collected six boxes of food to donate. He will present the donations in person to the agencies when a total of 4.7 tons of non-perishable food is distributed Nov. 19 by the Capital Region Food Program to 21 area food pantries, social service agencies and church groups in the greater Concord area. It’s all part of the Year-Round Distribution Project, which provides food to the organizations every month at no cost.

The total amount of food to be donated is worth roughly $11,000, according to a press release from the CRFP.

Imagine our excitement to receive word of this donation in time for our annual Guide to Gifts and Giving issue. Thanks, Aidan, your timing couldn’t have been better!

Aidan’s mom, Jill Teeters, is a volunteer with the Capital Region Food Program, and she said she is proud of her son’s efforts to help others as part of his birthday celebration each year.

According to the CRFP release, donations from food drives at Concord Hospital and New Hampshire Retirement Systems will also be part of the November distribution.

Among the many recipients of the CRFP donations will be Concord-area outlets that include Bow Human Services, Centerpoint Food Pantry, Concord Human Services, First Congregational Church, Friends of Forgotten Children, McKenna House, Salvation Army, St. John’s Food Pantry, St. Paul’s Food Pantry, St. Peter’s Church – St. Vincent DePaul Society, Suncook CAP, The Friendly Kitchen, United Church of Penacook, and West Congregational Church.
