This year, the SNOB Film Festival will feature several films centered around the theme of music. The music film experience starts Nov. 7 at 7:30 p.m. with the opening film, Good Ol’ Freda, a documentary that goes in depth into the unique life experience of Freda Kelly, who was the Beatles’ personal secretary. Other music related films include: Discoverdale (Dave Coverdale from Whitesnake); Filmage: The Story of Descendents/ALL (Granddaddies of Punk Rock); and The History of Future Folk (SciFi Folk Music). The weekend of films will end with Dave Grohl’s documentary, Sound City. Throughout the weekend, look for live indie music all around Concord, and check out music videos on screen between films.
There will also be several live music events throughout the weekend. Nov. 8 at True Brew Barista in Bicentennial Square there will be live music by Halfway to Nowhere with Mike Morris. The free event starts at 9 p.m.
Nov. 9 at three locations around the city will be eight local bands playing indie music. Dusty Gray Band with Complete Unknowns and Lauren Hurley will be at True Brew Barista, Buffalo Plaid and Far From Close with be rocking the Barley House, and Penuche’s Ale House will feature the Rippin’ E Brakes with Tuna Fish Discrepancy and Rachel Vogelzang. All events are free – so we encourage you to go from place to place to support all of this live music.
