Like chilly mornings and freshly sharpened pencils, the Concord Family YMCA’s Triathlon has become synonymous with autumn in New Hampshire. Once again, Clough State Park in Weare will host the event on Sept. 22. The Concord Family YMCA urges children (ages 6+) and adults to “Be Tough – Tri-Clough,” and register to participate by the Sept. 14 deadline. Registration is available online only; visit concordymca.org and click on the registration link in “Upcoming Events.” No race day registration will be offered.
The 16th annual Concord YMCA Triathlon features a fully monitored beautiful open water swim, followed by a bike ride on the roads of Dunbarton, Goffstown and Weare, capped off with a scenic run along Clough State Park’s established trails. Family members and friends are welcome to cheer on racers, and bring a picnic to enjoy at the park.
Adult pision (age 14+) competitors start their race at 8 a.m. on Sept. 22 with a half-mile swim, followed by a 14-mile bicycle ride and concluding with a 3-mile run. Inpidual adult registration is $70 with USA Triathlon membership or $82 without USAT; relay registration is $130 with USAT or $142 without USAT.
Youth pision (age 6-14) competitors begin their race at 11:30 a.m. on Sept. 22 with a 250-yard swim, then complete a 4-mile bicycle ride and 1-mile run. The youth triathlon stays in Clough State Park, with no on-street bicycling. Youth registration fee is $35 for inpiduals or $70 for a relay team. Competitors who are 14 years old can elect to race in either the Youth or Adult Division.
All athletes are required to pick up their race packets at the Concord Family YMCA (15 N. State St.) on Sept. 19 from 3 to 8 p.m. or Sept. 20 from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m. Identification and USAT card must be shown at time of packet pick-up without exception; the Concord Family YMCA will have record of 1-day USAT members.
