The Concord Regional Visiting Nurse Association is celebrating National Falls Prevention Awareness Day on Sept. 23 at Tad’s Place at Havenwood-Heritage Heights, 149 East Side Drive. The program is from 9 to 11:30 a.m.
At 10 a.m., join us for a showing of Age of Champions, an inspiring story of five competitors who sprint, leap, and swim for gold at the National Senior Olympics. Meet a 100 year-old tennis champion, an 86 year-old pole vaulter, and rough-and-tumble basketball grandmothers as they triumph over the limitations of age. The showing is followed by a post-film discussion with Claude Gentilhomme, the son of 100 year-old tennis champion Roger, who is featured in the film. It is not about becoming an Olympic champion – it is about finding ways to improve balance, increase flexibility, and maximize strength to prevent falls. At 9 a.m., balance screenings are available at no charge
There is no pre-registration required to attend. For more information, call Concord Regional VNA at 224-4093 or 800-924-8620, ext. 5815.
