The New Hampshire State Council on the Arts is seeking nominations for the 2013 Governors Arts Awards, which recognize outstanding contributions made by inpiduals, organizations and communities to the cultural life of our state.
Categories for the 2013 Governors Arts Awards include: Arts Education, Community Spirit, Cultural Access Leadership, Distinguished Arts Leadership, Folk Heritage, Inpidual Arts Patron and Lotte Jacobi Living Treasure, a lifetime achievement award. A new award for Youth Arts Leadership has been added this year, to recognize exceptional arts leadership by a high school age student.
Nominations may be made by any inpidual, group, organization or business. To be eligible for nominations, inpiduals must reside in New Hampshire or have made significant contributions to the arts while living in New Hampshire; nominated organizations, cities and towns must be located in New Hampshire.
“The contributions of Governors Arts Awards winners are usually made selflessly, yet it’s important to take the time to recognize and thank them for their impressive achievements,” said Lynn Martin Graton, acting director of the New Hampshire State Council on the Arts.
The deadline for the 2013 Governors Arts Awards nominations is September 3. The awards, which are non-monetary, will be presented in November.
