We caught up with 10 cool Rundlett Middle Schoolers who donated 10 inches or more of their hair to Locks of Love. Every student in the group had a friend or loved who had been affected by cancer (almost everybody does these days, sadly). Delia Barry told us it was her fourth time growing her hair out and donating it.
“My friend passed away from cancer when we were in fourth grade,” Barry said. “She was the one who told me about (Locks of Love).”
In all, the students donated about 8 feet of hair between them – that’s straight up Rapunzel status! They had plenty of time to grow it out; teacher Dan Gauthier told us they dreamed up the idea earlier in the year, but stipulated they not cut their hair until after the school’s semiformal.
