Cilau Valadez, a Huichol (pronounced wee-chole) yarn artist from Mexico, was on hand at Margaritas last Wednesday to demonstrate the intricate yarn painting technique. He pushes yarn, one tiny piece at a time, into a canvas of beeswax and pine resin with a small needle. This page, top: Valadez works by lamplight.
