How long have you been acting/performing?

I’ve been acting since I was 3, when I was in a Blue Cross/Blue Shield commercial. That was my first technical gig. My mother’s side of the family has always been into theater, and they kind of got me into it, as well.

What made you want to get involved with this particular performance?

It’s my first semester at NHTI, and I saw the school play and haven’t done anything like this for a few years, so I thought I’d give it a shot and get back into it, because it’s something I really enjoy.

Are you a drama student or are you doing this for fun?

Just for fun, as a hobby. I’m actually majoring in game programming.

Did you get in character as a rhinoceros for months before, Daniel Day-Lewis style?

My character is the only one who doesn’t turn into a rhinoceros, so it was more character work of trying to not turn into one.

Have you taken any of the themes of the play to heart? Do you see them in real life around you?

One of the reasons I wanted to do this show is because it’s right up my alley. A lot of it is about fascism and thinking for yourself, and that really strikes a chord for me. It’s very current; even though it’s a play from the ’60s, it still rings true.

Given the title, did you audition for this play just to meet horny coeds?

Once I went to the audition and saw the girls, it was more of an incentive to try.

What is your dream role?

I’ve always wanted to do Shakespeare. I’ve always been a huge fan and I’ve always wanted to do it, but I’ve never had the chance.

Who would play you in the movie about your life? And what would it be called?

It would have to be Jesse Eisenberg, the guy from The Social Network. And it would be called, What a Ride.

What do you hope to do when you graduate?

I’d love to be an independent game developer. I grew up with video games, and computers have always been in my life. I’d love to create artistic content for the web. I actually designed the poster we’re using for this play.

Hidden talent?

I play guitar and sing, so I’m somewhat of a triple threat. I just can’t dance at all.

Guilty pleasure?

It would probably have to be The New Girl, the TV show. I don’t want to like it, but I do. It’s really embarrassing, but it’s good. I try to avoid it, but I get sucked in.

Rhinoceros plays in NHTI’s Sweeney Auditorium April 19 and 20 at 7:30 p.m. and April 21 at 2 p.m. Tickets are $10. For more info, email nsafley@ccsnh.edu.
