Panera Bread of Concord recently presented a check for $4,050 to the American Red Cross of New Hampshire. The money, raised through Panera’s Operation Dough-Nation program, will help support the regional branch in providing emergency assistance, disaster relief and education.
“With recent disasters like Hurricane Sandy, Panera Bread knows just how important the services of the American Red Cross are for our affected friends and neighbors,” shared Mitch Roberts, franchise co-owner of Panera Bread in Bedford. “We are honored to give back to the local community, which has always been a strong supporter of our bakery-café, through a donation to this worthy organization.”
The Concord bakery-cafe originally collected $2,025 from customers through the in-store Operation Dough-Nation canisters, which are displayed in each Panera bakery-cafes. Panera Bread then matched its customer donations dollar for dollar, bringing the donation total to $4,050.
The American Red Cross shelters, feeds and provides emotional support to victims of disasters; supplies about 40 percent of the nation’s blood; teaches skills that save lives; provides international humanitarian aid; and supports military members and their families. The Red Cross is a not-for-profit organization that depends on volunteers and the generosity of the American public to perform its mission.
