The SNOB Film Festival makes its triumphant return to Concord this week. The event, entering its 11th year, takes place at Red River Theatres, where films from around the world – as well as right here in Concord – will be screened to crowds of cinephiles.
There are some great movies to look forward to, and obviously that’s what most people will show up for. However, the SNOB’s appeal stems from more than just movies – it’s a community event! There’s a beer tasting with local breweries on Thursday night, preceding the film The Love Of Beer. Friday night features a chance to hobnob with filmmakers at the Barley House after the day’s movies. On Saturday, you can do the same at True Brew Barista. And on Sunday night, it all comes together with the awards ceremony and encore presentations of winning films.
So, grab some popcorn, find your seat and enjoy – the SNOB is upon us!
Thursday, Nov. 8
6 – 9:15 p.m.
Craft brew tasting. Sample several craft beers from the area’s top breweries, including: Tuckerman Brewing Company, Throwback Brewery, Whitebirch Brewing, Smuttynose Brewing, Redhook Brewery, Widmer Brothers, and more!
Film: The Love of Beer
When someone thinks of a brewer, they probably don’t picture a petite woman with red pigtails. But with Tonya Cornett’s amazing beers and growing collection of medals, things may change. From farm to consumption, women are fighting their way to become some of the most influential people in the craft beer world.
Based in the Pacific Northwest, this documentary follows these inspirational women as they struggle to end stereotypes, handle their rising fame, and raise families in a 21-and-over lifestyle. They’re not doing it for feminism or equality-they’re doing it for The Love of Beer. Stick around after for a special brewers’ panel.
