Fat Is The New 30: The Sweet Potato Queen's Guide to Coping with (the Crappy Parts) of Life
2012, 254 pages
Nonfiction
The Sweet Potato Queen movement began with the author and a few of her southern belle friends, sporting tiaras, majorette boots and sequins everywhere, getting their sparkle on for the Saint Patrick's day parade. They now have their own parade and believe that denial is the best survival tip ever.
The first “Sweet Potato Queen” book by Jill Conner Browne was reviewed by Library Journal as strictly a regional title not recommended for most libraries. In this, her ninth book, the “Sweet Potato Queens” are still going strong with 6,200 chapters in 37 countries. It is difficult to read any of her books without laughing out loud at something.
In this book, we find out what happens when you have no playground equipment and have to make your own slide with a long wide plank and a box of crayons. We go on a gator hunt to find out if they like marshmallows, what really happens on book tours, and learn how thinking or talking about watermelon can save any negative situation.
Try it and see!
