Area golfers are invited to participate in the Capital Region Food Program's 5th annual charity golf tournament at Beaver Meadow Golf Course on Sept. 24. Check-in and breakfast begins at 8 a.m. with a 9 a.m. shotgun start for the event.
All proceeds benefit the CRFP's year-round distribution program, which provides partnering social service agencies, soup kitchens and food pantries with food on a monthly basis. Last year, more than 30 agencies in the greater Concord area received more than 34 tons of food, valued in excess of $62,000.
Each month food is purchased from Associated Grocers of New England and given to those agencies free of charge. On average, approximately $7,000 or 2-2.5 tons of food is purchased monthly. Registration forms are available online at capitalregionfoodprogram.org. Entry fee is $110 per person and includes breakfast, lunch, cart, greens fees and prizes. Foursomes and singles are welcome.
