Registration is now open for the Concord Public Safety Foundation's inaugural “Fire Truck Pull.” Teams of 10 inpiduals, including at least 3 female teammates, will face off against a 45,000-pound City of Concord reserve fire truck. Registration is limited to 20 teams who will compete for the fastest time. The starting horn sounds on July 21, when teams will show their strength by pulling the truck along a section of Main Street during the Market Days Festival, crossing the finish line at the intersection of Pleasant and Main to a cheering crowd.
Competition will be fierce, but all teams are ultimately pulling together to support initiatives of the Concord Public Safety Foundation. Registration is $400 per team, and proceeds support funding of a third LUCAS hands free CPR device for Concord Fire, and seed money for a future Concord Police K-9 program.
Fire Truck Pull teams are already forming, and include delegations from Concord Hospital and the Merrimack County Department of Corrections. Registration information is available on Facebook, by visiting concordpublicsafety.org, or by emailing concordpublicsafety@gmail.com.
