City briefly

Each week, City Manager Tom Aspell throws a couple of spray cans and some markers in a backpack, heads down to an underpass and spraypaints a colorful city memo on the bare concrete. Then he challenges us to a breakdance fight! You win, Tom, we can't pop and lock like you! Here's that bomber of a city memo.

The beav is back

Tee off on the cheap

In celebration of its earliest opening on record, the Beaver Meadow Golf Course is inviting everyone to be a “Guest of the Beav,” Aspell writes. Through April 20, everyone can play the course for $32 per person (seven days per week, cart not included). For more information, visit our new website at beavermeadowgolfcourse.com, or call the Pro Shop at 228-8954 to schedule your tee time up to 5 days in advance.

Buyers and zellers

New properties listed

The city has listed two tax deeded properties for sale with local real estate firm Cowan & Zellers, Aspell writes. The properties are located at 109 Fisherville Road and 8 Bradley St. The 109 Fisherville Road property is a 0.77-acre commercial property with a 1960s raised ranch-style house adjacent to the McDonalds restaurant. Asking price is $115,000. The 8 Bradley St. property is a residential property in a gambrel style set on a 0.08-acre lot with a shared drive-way. Asking price is $84,500. Both properties are being sold “as is” and will be advertised on the Northern New England Real Estate Network (nneren.com), as well as at cowanandzellers.com.

You missed a spot

Library gussied up

Eight students from Bishop Brady dusted furniture and shelves on the library's main floor, cleaned the plastic covers on the magazines, washed board books from the Children's Room, and raked the lawn and prepared planters for flowers outside as part of their Community Service Day, Aspell writes. Their time and effort are much appreciated.

Library spruces site

The Concord Public Library's online catalog has just undergone a makeover, Aspell writes. Check out its new clean look, with photos, at mls.concord.com. Log in as a user and learn about the new feature called “Preferred Searches” using the Help button. This feature allows you to receive email alerts when the library adds a new title by your favorite author. The search box itself has not been changed, but the result screens now provide more information without drilling down. Other improvements make the catalog easier to use. The “New Search” button is conveniently located in the upper right of the screen, and buttons across the top of the page link you directly to your account, to the library's web page and newsletter, and to the library's online databases and resources.
