The Concord Police Department was kind enough to give us access to some recently unearthed police logbooks. We think it's a fascinating look into the way life used to be in Concord, so we've pulled out some interesting entries for you. Check it out!
Jan. 24, 1927: Thomas Winters. Drunk on Main St. at 7:40 p.m. Officer Rodd had the car come up and take him to Concord at 2 a.m. He was sick.
Jan. 24, 1927: Deputy Moore wants us to find out if there is a Flora Shaw living here. She is short, kind of stout, about 25 years old. There is a Florence Shaw at 5 Foster St., Concord, moved there two weeks ago. She stayed at 11 West Canal St., where she worked at Hoyt's.
Feb. 26, 1929: Walter Fox had a bad spill at 3:00 p.m. In Joe Fournier's barber shop. Revived him and took him home.
Feb. 27, 1929: Mr. Frank Tessier complains of the Pellitier boy spitting all over his front door. Investigated and had the boy clean it up.
Feb. 8, 1930: Dr. Green of Elm St. complains of Landry's dog coming out and jumping on him when he goes by. Investigated.
March 21, 1930: Mr. Bailey of River Hill reports two police dogs killing about 28 of his hens while he was away. Investigated.
July 27, 1930: Fred Cuddy's dog had a fit. Dog was O.K. when I got there. Cuddy is going to have the dog killed.
July 31, 1930: Mr. G. L. Howe of Concord N.H. had his pocket picked at the park. A pocketbook with $5.00 and some papers.
August 28, 1930: Four girls ran away from orphanage at Franklin, N.H. All about 14 years of age. Had green blouses, no hats. Each had a bundle of clothes with them. Ran away a little after ten o'clock last night.
August 28, 1930: A man driving a Conn. Car Reg. #9-8140 reports while playing golf, a boy by the name of Edmund True kept stealing golf balls and kept aggravating him until he struck the boy. A woman in another car wanted the boy man arrested. I told her to get a warrant.
Oct. 29, 1930: A man by the name of Salner has disappeared from around the Blackwater. He ran a filling station. He is 5'6″ or 7″, 180 lbs. Has on dark clothes. Is badly in need of a shave and is a little demented.
Oct. 29, 1930: Nettie Bowen of Centre St. complains of kids raising the devil and taking off her blinds. Investigated.
Nov. 1, 1930: Mrs. G. Saiche complains of a man trying to jip her of some money.
Nov. 4, 1930: Mrs. Pery of #1 West Canal St. complains of the Bossette Boy hitting on the head with an apple.
Jan. 5, 1931: Mrs. Marden complains of kids sliding and talking back to her.
April 19, 1932: Mrs. Harlow B. Clark reports someone looking in her window.
May 3, 1932: [unintelligible] of West Main St. complains his wife came home drunk and did not take care of her child.
May 14, 1932: Otto Moody complains of Joe Gibo chasing after his girls.
Dec. 28, 1932: A holdup in Keene, N.H. by a man that looks like an Italian, about 5'8″ or 9″ tall, 185. He had a brown overcoat and light tan hat.
May 27, 1944: Call for an officer to the Timmins home on Fisherville Rd. O.K. Woman having a change of life.
