Unlikely Friendships: 47 Remarkable Stories from the Animal Kingdom
Jennifer Holland
2011, 210 pages
Nonfiction
Jennifer Holland, senior writer for National Geographic magazine, gives us 47 stories that she has collected of unlikely and unusual animal friendships. Some of my favorites are the African elephant and the sheep, the Asiatic black bear and the black cat, and the potbellied piglet and the Rhodesian ridgeback. Why do these strange pairings happen? It seems that animals need companionship, too. And they aren't fussy about how different their friends look or act. Quite a unique book, and the photos and stories are heartwarming.
