“Protecting the Forests: The Weeks Act of 1911” exhibit will be on display at the Society for the Protection of New Hampshire Forests Conservation Center through Oct. 28.
Using historical images and text, this exhibit showcases the history, social significance, and ecological impact of the Weeks Act. Passed in 100 years ago, the Weeks Act led to the creation of the Eastern National Forest system. The White Mountain National Forest was one of the first forests created under the Act.
The exhibit is open for viewing Monday through Friday from 9a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Conservation Center conference room, located at 54 Portsmouth St.
