Thirty-five-year-old Durga Thapa moved here from Bhutan last year with her three children. We caught up with Thapa and asked her a few questions about her new life in Concord.

What do you think of Concord?

I didn't know a lot of people here at first, but I have made many friends since I arrived one year ago.

What did you do for work in your home country?

I was a weaver. I made knitted hats, jewelry and clothing.

What do you do in Concord?

I attend Second Start school. I love the English language, so studying it is very fun for me.

What do you miss the most about home?

Family and friends . . . But I don't miss Nepal and Bhutan. I love living here. It's much nicer here. Much better opportunities here!

What do you and your kids like to do for fun?

My kids love to go swimming in the Keach Park pool, and they also love to go to Family Dollar on Fisherville Road. … I take them there for special treats.

I personally love the community garden where I can grow all the fresh vegetables and fruit my family needs. I planted watermelon, potatoes, tomatoes, ginger, and cucumbers last year.
