Concert for polio

The Bobby Darling Show, a musical comedy revue that has entertained audiences throughout the Northeast, is coming to Bow as part of the Rotary Club's effort to raise funds to eradicate polio from the world.

Bringing a distinctive blend of high-energy music and comedy, the Bobby Darling Show will highlight a musical evening that will include a variety of performances by New Hampshire based musical acts, including members of the Concord Chorale and the Bow High Community Voices.

A special presentation also will be made by Gov. John Lynch and his wife, Dr. Susan Lynch, to Mary Louise Hancock, a long-time community leader in the Concord area and a polio survivor.

The event, scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on March 12 at Bow High School, is sponsored by the Rotary Club of Bow, as part of a fundraising effort in support of the Rotary Foundation's Polio Plus Program. Rotary International is committed to raising a total of $200 million worldwide to match a $355 million challenge grant from The Gates Foundation to fund polio immunization programs.

Admission to the event is $10 for adults, $8 for seniors 65 and older, and $5 for students. Tickets are available at Little River Oriental Rugs, 10 N. Main St., or the Bow branch of the Merrimack County Savings Bank, 503 South St., Bow. Tickets also may be purchased at the door at the high school on the night of the concert. Anyone unable to attend the event who wishes to make a contribution tmay make a check payable to Rotary International and send it to the Rotary Club of Bow at PO Box 1935, Bow, NH 03304.
