A 'green' concert to support the YES team

You may have seen high school youth from the Concord Youth Environmental Services (YES) team in their bright green shirts working hard all around Concord to improve our local green spaces. The YES Team is a service-learning program that gives local high school students an opportunity to develop 21st-century skills while gaining a sense of civic responsibility, personal empowerment, and environmental stewardship through hands-on service projects around environmental issues.

The team was left homeless when PlusTime NH closed its doors in January, but thanks to support from the city and organizations like the Green Concord business group, and others, the future looks promising.

Green Concord is hosting an Irish Music Festival and Green Living Fair on Mar. 5 to benefit the Concord YES Team. Paddy Keenan, world-renowned Irish piper of Bothy Band fame, headlines the Green Traditions concert and fair. Paddy will be joined by New Hampshire's own traditional Irish music band, Reaganta and the engaging New England Harp Orchestra, in addition to several other New Hampshire-grown musicians and great local dancers. A Green Fair begins at 6:30 p.m., with raffle prizes and information about regional green initiatives. For tickets, go to ccanh.com or call 225-1111.
