As if this winter isn't providing enough drama, PAGE TO STAGE is returning for a third season, storming back into Concord City Auditorium like the proverbial March lion to present three staged readings of new plays by New Hampshire playwrights.
Aimed at developing new works for the stage, fostering new playwrights, and presenting new theatre works, PAGE TO STAGE holds forth on Sunday afternoons, March 6, 13, and 27, from 3 to 5 p.m. in the theatre's Reception Lobby. The free workshop series welcomes all theatre buffs. The programs begin with dramatic desserts and end with equally dramatic audience feedback.
The season includes:
March 6: Granite Playwrights, Ink, a group of award-winning writers from the Concord area, presents an afternoon of new short plays in a workshop format, fine-tuning their pieces in preparation for performances at the Boston Playwrights' Theatre in June. The group returns on March 27 with Part Two of their showcase.
March 13: David John Preece, whose plays captured the New Hampshire Theatre Awards for best original play in 2007, 2008, and 2009, presents “The Family Hour,” a one-act portrayal of Richard and Pat Nixon on the eve of his resignation. The piece is Act One of “Bookends”, an historical play-in-progress, with Act Two portraying the Kennedys on the fateful morning in Dallas.
