Petit Papillon Ballet Theatre will premier a new original ballet on March 26 at the Concord City Auditorium, with performances at 2 and 7 p.m. The Nightingale is based upon the Hans Christian Andersen fairytale of the same name. This production is the result of a creative collaboration of multiple New Hampshire artists. The musical score has been written especially for Petit Papillon by Emmy Award nominee Ward Dilmore of Hampton Falls.
Paul Lally will join the company for the first time this year as narrator. Lally has over 35 years of experience writing, producing and directing for PBS and commercial television.
Members the ballet theater are joined by younger students of Petit Papillon School of Ballet to tell the story of the beautiful nightingale and an empress who becomes enamored with a false mechanical bird and is haunted by death. Cast members for this production represent the communities of Concord, Bow, Hopkinton, Henniker, Hooksett and Sanbornton.
