Genre novels rarely deviate from the standard formula, but in this new spy thriller, Keith Thomson has definitely taken the genre in a new direction.
Charlie Clark has always believed his father has toiled away as a boring washing machine salesman and that his mother passed away while he was young. He finds out that he is wrong on both counts when his father's house is blown up and gunmen come after Charlie and his father. The only problem Charlie has in trying to figure out what is happening is that his father has Alzheimer's and is only lucid a small percentage of the time.
As they escape from the gunmen, Charlie learns his father has some extraordinary talents, which help them elude the bad guys through a wild array of dangerous events. Charlie figures out that his father has classified information that more than one group want to make sure he never shares, and he is not sure they will be able to escape the danger forever.
This novel is action-packed and keeps the reader engaged until the end. You have to love a spy novel that throws Franklin, NH and the Merrimack River into the story!
