New Hampshire teen filmmakers have a new opportunity to showcase their creativity and have their ideas heard. The Young Adult Librarians of New Hampshire announce the “You Are Here” Teen Video Challenge 2011, part of a national competition to create short public service announcements that promote reading and public libraries.
Teens are asked to create 30 – to 90 – second videos promoting their library's summer reading program, centered on the slogan “You Are Here,” a theme that conveys the idea of teens as part of a perse country and world where all are unique and important.
Entries must encourage using public libraries to learn about ourselves, the world and the fun of reading. Deadline to enter is March 7, 2011.
Videos will be judged on: creativity, message clarity and relevance, motivation and inspiration, and overall impact. Participants must be 13 – 18 and legal residents of New Hampshire. They may work on their own or as a team.
New Hampshire's top entry will be awarded $250, with the filmmaker's library receiving $100. The winning video will join other state winners as official national Collaborative Summer Library Program 2011 Teen Video champions and be used to promote summer reading across the United States.
