The 59th Concord Christmas Parade is ready to march down Loudon Road on Saturday, Nov. 20 at 9:30 a.m. The theme for this year’s parade is Our Christmas Wish.
The parade units will begin formation at 8:30 a.m., with floats asked to be at the formation site at 8 a.m., in the parking lot of the Department of Transportation on Hazen Drive. The fire trucks will line up on the south side of Hazen Drive.
This year’s parade will march from Hazen Drive onto Loudon Road going east to the former Entertainment Cinemas on Loudon Road, where it will disband. This is a change in location.
The parade marshal is Joe Joyce, a meteorologist with WBZ TV Boston 4. Also featured as a special guest in the parade is Concord Monitor columnist Ray Duckler.
Music in the parade will be furnished by the Concord High School, Woodsville High School, Bow High School, Merrimack Valley High School, and Hillsboro-Deering High School Bands, and the parade committee is looking for bands who are interested in being in the parade.
There will be floats including Operation Santa Claus, celebrating their 50th anniversary, Word of Life Church, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts, Brownies,4-H clubs, and many others, including the official Santa Float furnished by Tri State Medical Services. The popular Yankee miniature horses from Barnstead will return to the parade, as well as more horses, dogs and goats.
Decorated vehicles, emergency response vehicles, antique autos, local government officials including Governor John and First Lady Susan Lynch, will join Concord Mayor Jim Bouley, City Manager Tom Aspell and city councilors. Boys and girls are reminded to bring their letters to Santa Claus.
