Okay, the results have been in for a while now, but in case you hadn't heard, 28-year-old Crystal Kennard of Concord won the first ever Market Days makeover challenge put on by Main Street Concord last month.
Kennard, a single mother of three, faced off against five others for the title of most transformed. The contestants were pampered and primped by local salons and clothing retailers for a day and showed off the results before a Market Days crowd and five fashionable judges.
Kennard, whose makeover team was made up of staff from Family OutFITters Thrift Store Boutique and Salon K, told The Insider she wanted the makeover to look more mature.
The judges focused on how dramatic the transformation was, if the new style could be sustained with the participant's lifestyle, and how well the pieces of the look fit together.
Sarah Chaffee, one of the judges, said picking just one contestant was a challenge.
“I remember being up on the stage and kibitzing with the other judges about who we should pick,” Chaffee wrote. “I have to give kudos to the contestants who were so game about appearing on stage and strutting their stuff.”
