Driving down State Street, you've probably noticed the giant prison facility, but have you taken note of Corrections Creations across the street? As the name suggests, the shop is affiliated with the New Hampshire Department of Corrections. It carries furniture and other handcrafts made by inmates from around the state.
The store is especially useful for getting quality furniture at rock bottom prices, but there's plenty of giftable items, too, like handbags, Shaker boxes, pottery and toys. The inventory changes regularly, so you're sure to see something new, even if you've been before.
Store manager Deb Dami says this is a busy time of year for the store, which is why they're conveniently offering Saturday hours in December. On weekdays, you can shop Tuesday-Friday from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. and on Saturday, Dec. 12 and 19, the store will be open from 9 a.m.-4 p.m.
For more information, call 271-1933. Corrections Creations is located at 312 N. State St. Purchases must be paid with a check or credit card, cash is not accepted.
