A few weeks ago, we printed a guide to area nonprofits and their needs for the holiday season. (If you missed it, find the guide at our website, the concordinsider.com, or pick up a copy at the Concord Monitor, 1 Monitor Drive.)
We received two additional giving opportunities since the guide printed:
New Hampshire State Prison for Women
I would like to ask the people of Concord to remember the women at the New Hampshire State Prison for Women in Goffstown this holiday season by donating to their craft department. The women there spend a lot of time quilting, doing general sewing, knitting, crocheting, cross-stitching and embroidering during the winter months. Many of them do not have the money to buy the necessary materials.
They need yarn and fabric of any color or pattern. They also like to use kits to do paint by number, embroidery and cross stitch. They use most of the materials and their talent to make things for their children, friends and family.
Blank Christmas cards are also welcome at this time of year.
Joanne Fortier, the warden, can be contacted to make donation arrangements. The prison’s phone number is 668-6137.
