You've probably seen people practicing Tai Chi, a series of slow-moving positions that flow from one to another. Did you know these positions were based on an ancient technique of self defense and can be practiced with a sword? Cool! And did you know that Tai Chi builds core strength and fitness so important to injury prevention for athletes, dancers and regular folk?
Shaun Schafer, who studied most recently at the Shanghai National Wu Shu Training Center, is now offering tai chi classes, both with and without sword, for kids and adults at the studio of Petit Papillon in the Green Street Community Center, on Monday and Thursday evenings.
The registration fee is $25. The cost for the full year program (34 weeks) is $408, which works out to be $12 per class.
