The Centennial Senior Center extends an enormous thank-you to all who found the time to attend our recent open house at the West Street Ward House, 41 West St. The evening was a terrific success, and we thank you for being part of the event.
Many thanks are also due to Mayor Jim Bouley, who shared the City of Concord's perspective on our dual goals of making Concord a more livable community, and creating a multi-generational community center through partnerships.
Finally, we are exceptionally grateful to Lew Feldstein, president of the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation and co-author of “Better Together: Restoring the American Community,” for delivering a powerful keynote address on social capital. Not only did Lew engagingly explain social capital (the value of social networks, or who we know, and the tendency that arises from these networks to do things for each other), but he also quantified the connection between level of social capital and a community's health, safety and educational performance.
The Centennial Senior Center invites all to join us as we move forward in defining how, together, we will transform Concord into a more livable community through advocacy for area seniors, ongoing assessment of changing needs and building connections.
