The New Hampshire Youth Network, a program of Breathe New Hampshire, is sponsoring a two-day statewide leadership summit for youth between the ages of 11 and 18 on Nov. 20 and 21 at the Courtyard Marriott in Nashua.
“The summit will focus primarily on issues that pertain to healthy breathing and encourage young people to become active and involved in their communities,” said Daniel Fortin, president and CEO of Breathe New Hampshire. “The youth will be able to use the information and new skills they learn at the summit in many different aspects of their lives.”
Approximately 200 participating youth will attend seven workshops and team building activities over the two days. A number of workshops will explore different issues that impact our breathing, such as the technology behind hybrid cars, reducing idling at schools and the tobacco industry's marketing efforts. Other workshops will provide the opportunity for hands-on practice in communication and leadership skills including working with the press, legislative advocacy, activism and more.
The summit costs $60 to register, which includes Friday night lodging and all meals. Call 800-835-8647 or visit breathenh.org/youthsummit for more information.
