Canterbury Shaker Village, 288 Shaker Road in Canterbury, presents the 23rd annual Wool Day Festival on Sept. 26 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Sponsored by Northeast Delta Dental, Wool Day features textile demonstrations, including spinning, weaving, felting, knitting, lace making, quilting and rug making. Visitors can participate in hands-on activities, visit vendors of handcrafted items, see fiber producing animals including various breed of sheep, goats, rabbits and alpacas and take a special textiles tour of the village. A used equipment sale will offer bargains to textile enthusiasts. The Shaker Table Restaurant will offer an outdoor grilled lunch and will be open during regular restaurant hours – lunch is from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. and dinner is 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Admission to the event is $17 and $8 for children 6 to 17 years old. Children 5 and younger visit free. Group and family rates are available. Visit shakers.org or call 783-9511 for more information.
