Inpiduals, families, groups, organizations and businesses are invited to come downtown on Oct. 17 to take part in “Something to Crow About!” This community scarecrow-building activity is presented in partnership by Main Street Concord and the Concord Cooperative Market to help dress up the downtown in celebration of the season.
Participants will stuff garments with hay and accessorize their creations in the good old-fashioned autumn tradition of scarecrow making.
A $5 registration fee provides participants with all the supplies necessary to stuff, face and dress their scarecrow. To help inspire friendly competition and persity of characters, prizes will be awarded in three categories: most earthy, most elegant and most whimsical.
Scarecrows will be displayed on light poles downtown creating a scarecrow gallery that will adorn the district through Nov. 1.
Sign up by Oct. 2 to make your scarecrow by contacting Karina Giordano at 603.410.3099 marketing@concordfoodcoop.coop.
Scarecrow construction will take place from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on the State House Plaza on Saturday, Oct. 17th. In the event of rain, the activity will move to the Capital Commons Garage, which is accessible by car on Storrs Street and by foot on South Main Street.
Clothing, costume and accessory donations are appreciated and will go a long way in helping to create the most perse gallery possible. Please deliver donations to the Concord Cooperative Market at 24 S. Main St.
