You may have recently seen some news coverage about Friends of Forgotten Children, discussing the challenges we face in the coming weeks to keep our doors open and continue serving thousands of area children and families in need through the struggling economy.
In the 72 hours since that initial report, we have marveled at the kindness and charity of citizens across the state who have responded and volunteered both their time and resources to keep Friends of Forgotten Children in operation. We were further heartened by the generosity of the Finlay Foundation, which issued a challenge grant, offering to match the first $25,000 in donations that come in to Friends of Forgotten Children, for a total of up to $50,000.
So far, we have been able to raise about $4,000 – an amazing response. But we need the donations to continue so we take full advantage of this remarkable opportunity. These are funds that directly ensure a child will not go without a meal or a gift this holiday season, and that a family will have the resources it needs as it gets back on its feet. I ask that you take a look around our website and consider making a donation to help Friends of Forgotten Children continue to assist those who need our services most.
