Camp was a huge experience for me. The first day of camp there is the lice check, meet the counselors, the emotional goodbyes, and then you are left in a place where you sit on a swing and cry.
Through the next couple of days I got used to the routine, and then my guardian angel took a vacation. We went down to the beach to have a sand castle competition. I was sitting under the kayak racks and a girl from my cabin yelled, “Get over here!” I got up and a kayak came off the top rack and landed on my head. After the nurse looked at me, that could only mean one thing – a trip to the ER! A couple of tests later, we hit the road. I got McDonald’s on the way back to camp. Even though a kayak fell on my head, I had a great two weeks at Camp Huckins.
