We received this e-mail and woodchuck photos from reader Nancy Berliner. Thanks for sharing the cuteness, Nancy!
For several years I have watched this little community grow on the traffic greens at Exit 12 off Interstate 93. I have counted up to 11 woodchucks living there at one time. So, who in Concord hasn't noticed them? They have become my “Puxatawny Phil” sign of spring for Concord – as the snow melts and I pass by in my car every day in early spring, I look for signs of furry little things scurrying around to signal the season's awakening. This year, lots of baby chucks were added to the clan.
So, I took it upon myself to go down there, camera in hand, and introduce myself to those willing to hang with me. Success! I met six woodchucks, including the big daddy, whom I've named Bubba. No names for the others yet, but how about an Insider contest? Unfortunately, every now and then one gets squished on the on-ramp, so maybe your readers don't want to get too attached.
Happy wildlife viewing!
