Recommendations and information for in- and out-of-towners

The Babe Ruth Softball World Series is coming to Concord, readers, and we’ve got the scoop on games, tickets and suggestions for out-of-towners.

The series pits 10 teams in 30 games over eight days, Aug. 8-15, (got all that?) at Memorial Field on Fruit Street. In addition to eight regional teams from across the country, a team of all-stars from Concord and this year’s state champs from Berlin will compete.

There are a few ways to watch the games. First, you can see them in person and enjoy the softball ambiance at Memorial Field. Same day game tickets are $7, $5 children. A family pass for all 30 games is $50. Visit concordnortheast.com to download a schedule and bracket.
Games will also be streamed online at baberuthtv.youthsportslive.com, thanks to sponsor Comcast Business Class (this requires a paid subscription).

Last, but certainly not least, Concord TV will be taping 19 games which can be viewed on community Channel 22. Julienne Turner, executive director of Concord TV, said most games will be broadcast the following morning. Recordings will also be posted to Concord TV’s website, yourconcordtv.org, as video-on-demand (fancy!). A complete TV schedule will be posted to its website soon.

And now, for those traveling to Concord, we have recommendations on the best place in town to hang out or grab a bite to eat, compliments of the Concord all-stars team. Thanks, girls! (A word to out-of-townies, you might want to make friends with some of the team members to take them up on these suggestions.)
