Subcommittee meeting
Save the date
According to City Manager Tom Aspell’s super-cool and always exciting weekly memo, the Transportation Policy Advisory Committee is holding a neighborhood traffic subcommittee meeting on Aug. 27 at 4 p.m. in the city council chambers.
And guess what else? You’re invited!

It continues . . .
Fisherville Road
We know what you’re thinking – “Oh, Tom, when will it end?! When we again drive on Fisherville Road without delays?!”
We’re wondering that, too.
Tom wrote, “Next week will bring continued storm sewer infrastructure improvements, mainly focused in the Sewalls Falls Road area of Fisherville Road, along with the replacement of domestic water valves along North State Street from Sewalls Falls Road to Hutchins Street.”
Let’s all sigh in disappointment together . . . sigh.
“Construction of new sidewalks along both sides of Fisherville Road from Bog Road to Sewalls Falls Road is also scheduled for the upcoming week, as the new granite curb installation is almost complete,” Tom adds.
Stay tuned next time, as we’re sure the Fisherville Road saga shall continue.
Good news!
Moola for the police
Wait . . . what’s that you say? Tom wrote something in his memo that wasn’t about traffic delays?
According to Tom, the Concord Police Department has been awarded $207,544 under the COPS Hiring Recovery Program, as part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.
The award will fund one full-time officer for three years, with the condition that the city retain this position for an additional year once the three-year award expires, Tom wrote.
“An acceptance resolution will be forwarded to city council in the near future. This award will mitigate the impact of the position reductions in the police officer job classification that was part of the FY 2010 operating budget,” our beloved city manager continued.
