Bark For Life, a new event hosted by the American Cancer Society, will bring dog owners and their pets together in the fight against cancer on Aug. 4. This non-competitive 1.5 mile walkathon will raise money for the American Cancer Society while celebrating the special bond between people and their dogs.
Bark For Life of New Hampshire will take place from 6 to 9 p.m. along Lake Massabesic, just off the Exit 1 traffic circle, in Auburn. Opening ceremonies will be at 7 p.m. In addition to the scenic lakeside walk, the event will feature a variety of fun activities for dogs and owners alike, including prizes for the top fundraising dogs.
Bark For Life will honor the caregiving qualities of our canine friends. All donations fund the lifesaving mission of the American Cancer Society: to help you stay well, help you get well, to find cures and to fight back.
“We know that many cancer survivors depended on the loyal friendship of their dogs as they went through treatment,” said Beth Richards of the American Cancer Society. “This exciting new event is an opportunity for people to join the fight against cancer while celebrating all that our dogs do for us.”
Both teams and inpidual walkers are welcome. Advance registration is $10 per person ($25 the day of event) with the commitment to raise additional funds for the American Cancer Society. All registered dogs will receive a Bark For Life bandanna, while participants who raise at least $100 will get a Bark For Life T-shirt.
