Despite budget cuts, the July 4 celebration at Memorial Field will continue this year. The Duprey Cos., Nassau Broadcasting Partners, Telestar Fireworks Co. and Lincoln Financial Group Foundation will be picking the $15,000 tab. (Thanks, guys, you're the best!)
Admission is $2 per person at the gate. Vendors will start serving food at 5:30 p.m., and at 6 DJ Nazzy will will have you have movin' and groovin'. The Nevers' Band takes the stage at 8 and the fireworks are set to begin at dusk, around 9:15.
And here's something exciting: Glow sticks will be sold this year for $3 each.
In the event it rains (Rain? What rain?), the event will be held on Sunday, July 5. Visit onconcord.com, or call 225-8690 for more information.
If huge crowds aren't your thing, head on over to Pleasant View Retirement Community. The bluegrass band Bow Junction will put on a free concert at 7:30 p.m., and the public is welcome to stay and enjoy the fireworks from the lawn. If you get hungry, popcorn and hotdogs will be served free of charge (donations accepted). For more information, call 856-0264.
