Dear Tweens, In some countries students go to school all year long. They have vacations throughout the year that are longer than one wee, but NEVER have a long summer vacation. How would you feel if the Concord School District decided to go to school all year long?
Holly Grace
I think it would be better for the district if we had year-round school because you would have the same amount of vacation, but you would not have to come back from summer vacation and review everything from the year before. You could just start from where you stopped. There would still be enough time in each vacation to do camps for a week. I think year round-school would be good because you could get a lot more done and still have a lot of vacation.

Well, Concord . . . are you really trying to kill me? Because if this is even considered, I think I will die!
Learning isn’t all about school. Outside of school you will learn different life skills, such as dance and business. If we just went to school all year round we wouldn’t have time for a good social life, and that is very important.
Plus, as we learn we need relaxation time, and 2½ months is the perfect time for that! Please never, EVER change our summer vacation!

Summertime is a time for fun and enjoyment in every kid’s life. During this time, kids are allowed to engage in social activities with friends and are also allowed to express themselves participating in activities.
If we, as kids, were forced to give up this opportunity, we would not be motivated to do well in school and we would miss out with family occasions. Too many activities for an extensive period of time would cause loss of interest and care, which is why: Everything in moderation. Give us summer . . . we’ll work harder the rest of the year.

Dear whoever asked this:
There have been some rumors in Rundlett that President Obama may be getting rid of most of the kids’ summer vacation. Honestly, I don’t know what to believe, but referring back to the outside question a little while ago, kids are getting fatter and less healthy because of the work and stress the district gives us. I don’t like having just two free days a week (not that much time) and I want one extra day. New schedules are being made because kids aren’t doing homework or learning anything. They’re putting us in the situation for us to get fatter and less healthy and have less fun. We need time for exercise and to be active. Summer vacation is important. I hope they make the right decision.
