I can save you money!

That got your attention, didn’t it? It is true, though. If you attend a recycling education meeting on May 16, you will learn to recycle more and pay less to toss your trash.

Pay-as-you-throw is coming to Concord on July 6. Starting then, you will need to purchase the city’s official purple bags for your trash. They will be available in two sizes at two prices. The larger bags hold 32 gallons (20 pounds) and are $2 each. The smaller bags hold 15 gallons (10 pounds) and sell for $1 each. If you throw away quite a bit, your bag expenses can add up quickly. However, the more you can pert to recycling, the less you will pitch, and the fewer bags you will need to buy.

The recycling education meetings will be held at four different locations in Concord: the Heights Community Center and the clubhouse at Beaver Meadow Golf Course at 9 a.m. and the East Concord Community Center and the West Street Ward House at 10:30 a.m.

I promise the meetings will not be long. Their purpose is to provide residents with the basics of recycling. Even if you’ve been recycling, please consider attending. You might be surprised to learn how much of your trash can actually be recycled. We’ll take you beyond cans, bottles and newspapers. Bring a friend, or two or three. No RSVP required!

See you on Saturday, May 16!
