The Concord-Merrimack County SPCA's fifth annual Dinner with the Animals held April 17 at the Grappone Conference Center was a success! Approximately 250 animal lovers attended the event, compared to 230 people last year. With all proceeds benefiting the shelter, it's good to know that people still have plenty of love for the animals, despite the poor economy.
A few furry friends attended the social hour, allowing those in attendance to see the type of cuteness that's available for adoption at the SPCA. The social hour was proceeded by a buffet dinner and then Dr. Nick Trout, author of “Tell Me Where it Hurts” and staff surgeon at Boston's Angell Animal Medical Center, gave a humorous and heartfelt keynote presentation about his experiences as a veterinarian. One particularly amusing and true tale Trout told the crowd was about a man who legally changed his middle name to “Belle” to honor his prized pup with the same name.
