Concord High School will be celebrating Earth Day, April 29. Students in the Earth Service Corps group have been busy with projects to raise environmental awareness among their classmates. They have collected 200 cell phones to recycle. They are working to reduce the amount of Styrofoam products used in the cafeteria. Display boards will provide information on recycling and living green. Students can even learn about composting.
The high school’s commitment to the environment goes beyond a once-a-year event. Recycling bins are in every classroom. Outside recycling containers dot the campus. Green messages are a regular part of weekly announcements. Students often take it upon themselves to post signs reminding students to make green choices. Simply put, Concord High cares.
They set a great example for the rest of us. They remind us that Earth Day is every day. We are all citizens and caretakers of the Earth. We need to do our part to keep this planet livable.
To borrow a quote from Donna Reardon, physical science instructor and facilitator of Earth Service Corps, “No one can do everything, but everyone can do something”.
Happy Earth Day!

P.S.: Also on April 29, NHTI is sponsoring an electronics recycling day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in parking lot B. They will accept for free all computers and electronics, with the exception of televisions ($8 for plastic case and $12 for wooden case).
