Make your own lip balm!

My favorite lip balm is the one I make myself. It’s so easy! (I don’t sell them, but I do teach classes on how to make them and other goodies.) The basic recipe is four parts oil and one part beeswax. So, you could make it really simple and use all light olive oil or canola oil or something like that. However, I find the combination of the three oils makes a great consistency.

1 oz. olive oil
1.5 oz. coconut oil
1.5 oz. grapeseed oil
1 oz. beeswax, grated or cut up
20-40 drops of essential oils of choice (peppermint, orange, spearmint, clove, etc.)

Melt the first three oils and the beeswax in a double boiler. (Or carefully use a microwave in 30 second increments, stirring each time.) Once it’s all liquid, remove from heat, add essential oils and pour into lip balm tubes or jars. You may also want to add a few drops of grapefruit seed oil as a preservative. This recipe makes about 35 lip balm tubes. Feel free to multiply or pide the recipe as needed.

I use the my lip balm daily, and since I have plenty to spare, I keep one with my makeup, in the bedroom, in my purse, in my desk . . .
The worst emergency is to run out, but it only takes about 15 minutes to make a new batch.
