Hooray for a new executive director

After a nationwide search, The board of directors of The Concord Family YMCA is pleased to announce they have chosen a local candidate and longtime Y member to fill the position of executive director. Jim Doremus accepted the position and will start to lead the Concord Family YMCA on Feb. 9.

Not only does Jim have a strong educational background, a master's degree in organizational development and a bachelor's degree in psychology, he also has an excellent track record for non-profit management and is well-known and respected in the greater Concord community. Most recently, he was executive director of the White Birch Community Center in Henniker for two years, and prior to that, he was executive director of the Friends Program for 12 years.

While at the Friends Program, the agency was recognized as Business NH Magazine's “Business of the Year,” the Walter J. Dunfey Award for “Excellence in Nonprofit Management,” Volunteer NH! “Spirit of New Hampshire Award for Small Nonprofit,” JC Penney Golden Rule Awards as the “Outstanding Volunteer Program in Merrimack County” and the Peg McGarity Award for “Outstanding Volunteer Management.”

Jim has served on numerous boards including the Children's Alliance of New Hampshire, Volunteer NH!, Concord Hospital Association, Rotary Club of Concord, Granite State Association for Nonprofits/NHCN and the New Hampshire Coalition for the Homeless.

The Concord Family YMCA welcomes Jim Doremus as our new executive director and looks forward to having his leadership for our association!
